The NASO Sports Officiating Summit is headed back to Minneapolis for the first time since 2010 and will focus programming around assignments, conflicts of interest and accountability.

The event will be held at the Marriott City Center July 25-27, 2027. Officiate Minnesota Day, co-sponsored by the NFHS and the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), will be held Saturday, July 24, prior to the Summit.

“We are excited to bring the Summit back to the state of Minnesota,” said Bill Topp, NASO president. “We are thrilled to work with the MSHSL and NFHS to deliver high school sports officials an incredible experience on Officiate Minnesota Day. We look forward to working with industry leaders during the Summit to address the issues of today and strategize for a bright future.”

Standards Without Compromise

The 2027 theme, “Standards Without Compromise: Assignments, Conflicts of Interest, Accountability,” will examine current challenges and the future outlook of the officiating industry.

Officials set the standard for fair play, professionalism and accountability, but their influence extends beyond the calls they make. Upholding our own and collective integrity, even when it may not be convenient, is essential to what we do.

The officiating shortage has made the world of assigning more challenging. There are more game assignments than ever and fewer qualified bodies to cover those assignments. Standards and quality remain non-negotiable.

“After a 17-year wait, the officiating industry event of the year is returning to Minnesota! The MSHSL is incredibly excited and honored to host another NASO Sports Officiating Summit and State Day next summer in Minneapolis,” said Jason Nickleby, MSHSL assistant director.

“The Standards Without Compromise theme for next year’s Summit is incredibly impactful as the collective officiating profession must demonstrate unquestioned ethics and integrity with the growth of sports gambling and the intense scrutiny of game officials occurring at all levels. We cannot wait to welcome the nation’s officiating industry leaders back to the North Star State.”

For anyone involved in sports officiating, Minneapolis is the place to be next summer. See you there.
