Guest Welcome Reception
NASO and the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau welcome our guests to the 2006 Sports Officiating Summit. This event provides a great opportunity to make new acquaintances and exchange experiences from across the country. Plus – get the inside scoop on the sites and sounds of the city.

The Officiating Industry Luncheon
Co-hosted by the NFHS and NASO, this luncheon provides a forum for discussion of the current state of officiating, as well as the successes, trends, issues, challenges and where we’re heading in officiating. Join NFHS Executive Director Bob Kanaby and NASO President Barry Mano for an informative perspective on the state of officiating.

A Night at the AutoZone Park with the Memphis Redbirds (optional activity)
It’s summer — let’s go catch a ballgame. Meet new faces and reconnect with old friends during our group outing to watch the legendary Triple-A Memphis Redbirds (and of course, the umpires working the game!). You’ll have the opportunity to tour AutoZone Park — said to be the finest ballpark every built below the major league level. Enjoy the famous southern BBQ with an all-you-can-eat buffet and bottomless soft drinks through the third inning. Join your fellow attendees and guests for a night of great food, conversation and baseball — all on an exclusive party deck. An additional cost applies.

Gold Whistle Award Celebration *
Join us as we celebrate officiating’s highest honor – the NASO Gold Whistle Award – during an elegant evening banquet. NASO is privileged to have recognized the efforts of outstanding officials for the past 17 years with the Gold Whistle Award, created by the NASO board of directors to honor an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond in overall integrity and community service. In addition to the Gold Whistle Award, NASO will proudly award the fourth Mel Narol Medallion as well as introduce the new NASO chair for 2006-07. No other event in our industry pays tribute to officiating quite like the Gold Whistle Award Celebration.
