Community
Relations
Community relations
play a vital role in the publics perception of NASO
and sports officiating. These are the nine elements of NASOs
community relations initiative:
- Provide members
with helpful information
- Expand the
association by recruiting new members
- Harmonize member
viewpoints by promoting positive positions
- Promote the
industry and profession
- Work on behalf of physical assault protection for officials
- Improve training
and educational materials
- Gain popular
support and combat adverse publicity
- Train recruits
and provide programs of continuing education for all members
- Contribute
to industry progress by sponsoring educational programs
Speakers
Bureau
Want to make the right call at your next meeting?
NASO is pleased to offer you our speakers network of
sports officials for any type of meeting you need. NASO can
coordinate your needs to provide officiating training or individual
speakers for a dinner, luncheon or breakfast meeting. You
may want to have an official come to speak to your parents
organization, civic club or even your team. If its about
officiating, NASO can help you make the right call.
In order to satisfy
your needs and meet (well try our best to exceed) your
expectations, write to NASOs Public Relations Department:
- Name of your
organization
- Date you
would like a speaker
- Audience
(General sports fans? Officiating organization? Etc.)
- Topic you
are interested in speaker addressing (Sport specific officiating
training? Sportsmanship? Leadership? Motivational? Humorous?)
- Anticipated
audience numbers
- Anticipated
timeframe for speaker (How long do you want them?)
- Budget? (Have
you allocated funds for travel and lodging if necessary
in addition to the speakers fees?)
NOTE: Speakers
fees will vary depending on the person and time involved.
Please allow adequate time for planning and scheduling.
Public
Service Announcements
In order to help local associations recruit new
officials, NASO introduced a thirty-second public service
television and raido announcement in the fall of 2001. NASO
members are encouraged to contact their local raido, cable
and broadcast stations and request air- time. NASOs
public relations department will help coordinate delivery
of audio CDs and videotapes to stations so that the highest
quality is assured. To view the NASO public service announcement
