12/05 BASKETBALL — The Vermont Principals Association (VPA) announced Oct. 5, 2005, that three Vermont coaches will have to serve one-year coaching suspensions for assaultive behavior. The VPA Appeals Committee upheld the suspensions issued by the VPA Activities Standards Committee. The coaches suspended are Mount Mansfield wrestling coach Harley Brown, Vergennes junior high wrestling coach Mike Coyle and Mount St. Joseph junior varsity basketball coach Chad Fox. Brown and Coyle were suspended for a fight at the junior varsity/junior high state championships Feb. 19. Fox was suspended for making physical contact with a referee after a game Jan. 25. Fox reportedly bumped referee Douglas Neet following the game.
