WRESTLING - Vandals spray paint home and family dog.

It's one thing to spray graffiti on a man's house, it's quite another to do it to his dog.
After spraying profane statements on the wall of a local wrestling referee's house in blue spray paint, vandals who may have been unhappy with the results of a wrestling match between Fruita Monument and Grand Junction high schools painted the man's dog as well.
The dog was found unharmed, except for the coating of blue paint, at the partially constructed home of the referee who recently officiated at a match between the rival schools, said Janet Prell, a spokeswoman for the Mesa County Sheriff's Department.
According to sheriff's department's reports, the vandals Monday night entered the house, which is under construction, and spray painted on the wall obscene comments regarding some of the calls he made at the recent match.
The vandals apparently used the same blue spray paint on the dog.
Prell said the house is under construction and was not locked at the time of the incident, but the referee had left the dog at the site to guard it.
The two wrestling squads faced off two weeks ago, with Fruita, whose team colors are blue and silver, coming out on top.
Prell said the ref reported that he had made some calls during the close matches that may have upset fans.
Prell said police have no suspects in the vandalism, but said wrestling team members may be off the hook, since many were in Denver for a meet at the time of the vandalism.
In addition to the graffiti and the painted dog, the vandals also smashed the referee's mailbox, Prell said.
She said the damage was estimated at $100.(January, 1999)
