Recently retired NFL referee Scott Green will be a panelist at the 2014 Sports Officiating Summit. Green will appear on "Mistaken Identity: The Burden of Transparency in Officiating."
Green will join a panel that will explore the myth of "the best refereed game is when you don't know the officials are there." Officials today are "public persons," with the world wanting to know everything about them. Transparency is now a requirement for those that administer officiating departments. This new reality has not only an impact on how officials are judged, but how today's games are viewed as well.
Scott Green was an NFL official from 1991-2013. Green worked three Super Bowls (2002, 2004, 2010), serving as the referee in 2010.
