Tackett to be Summit Panelist

Officiating takes courage — to do the right thing when all pressures lobby against it. It takes extraordinary restraint and personal discipline. Some prefer the path of lesser resistance, creating as few waves as possible. All of these real life issues that officals face today will be explored on the 2014 Summit session, "What Are We Afriad Of?"

Julian Tackett has been the Commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association since 2010. Tackett has been with the KHSAA for 30 years. He has held such titles as Sports Information Director, Business Affairs Director and Assistant Commissioner, previously overseeing the association's officials division.

Tackett was a high school and college official for more than 20 years in football and basketball. He also served as chair of the football rules committee for the NFHS, was a member of the NFHS Baseball Rules Committee, was a member of the American Sport Education Program National Faculty and served as a liaison to the Kentucky Medical Association Sports Medicine Advisory Committee. He is also a current NASO board member.

Come hear the insight from Tackett and other industry leaders at the 2014 Sports Officiating Summit, which will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico July 27-29. Please visit www.sportsofficiatingsummit.com for more information.
