OVC Officials Join NASO

Football officials in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) became the latest NASO group member. With its group membership, nearly 60 OVC officials benefit from liability insurance, educational materials and services of NASO at a discounted rate.

The Division I OVC includes the following schools: Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Murray State, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin.

“The liability insurance is a huge benefit,” said Jim Irwin, football official in the OVC and secretary/treasurer of the officials association. He has been a member of the association for eight years. “Making sure all our officials have this type coverage is made much easier with the group membership. NASO is also an excellent provider of training and educational publications for our officials, along with discounts on hotels, equipment, etc.”

“Joining NASO as a group provides our members and leadership peace of mind. Having the backing of this organization allows our officials to focus on the game.”

NASO will design a benefit program that fits the needs of an association’s members. Leaders of associations with 25 or more members interested in having their chapter or conference staff join NASO as a group should contact Ken Koester at 262-632-5448, ext. 132, or kkoester@referee.com.
