Bret Alexander Couvell, 21, of Coral Springs, Fla., was arrested for striking an umpire during an adult baseball game on Sunday. Couvell allegedly threw his catcher mask at umpire Luis Alvarado, 39, after being ejected by the umpire.

Coral Springs Police arrested Couvell and charged him with felony battery on a sports official. Florida passed officials assault and battery legislation in 2004. It is one of 21 states that have specific assault laws to address those who attack sports officials.
