Three Local Associations Join NASO En Masse
Dec. 10, 2011 — NASO recently welcomed to the family three local associations that chose to have all of their officials become members.
The associations represent both ends of the map. The San Fernando Valley Football Officials Association (SFVFOA) and the Channel Coast Football Officials Association (CCFOA) are based in California. The Staten Island Soccer Referees Association is in New York state.
NASO’s unparalleled insurance coverage was cited as one of the main attractions for the association leaders. “To have anything less than the best insurance coverage for all of our members was just not an option – especially when we did the math with the discounted group rates,” said CCFOA President Allen Williams, whose group has 134 members.
"As a board it was our responsibility to protect our members — all of them,” Williams continued. “How terrible would it be if only four of the five members of a football crew had NASO coverage and the entire crew was named in a lawsuit? Our board felt that good stewardship required uniformity and consistency.”
