Information on Assaults on Sports Officials

Assaults on sports officials is an area of great concern to the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO).

Along with our emphasis on sportsmanship and respect on the field and on the court, we encourage our members to support legislation to penalize persons who assaults sports officials. (See model legislation and legislation currently on the books in various states.)

You can read about assaults on sports officlals in the U.S. and throughout the world in the assault archives maintained by Referee magazine. NASO members receive Referee as a benefit.

To view the assault archives, log into your account at MyReferee, and type the keyword "assault" in the search box.

You can also check out the What You Can Do page to learn how you can help keep officials safe and to maintain the highest level of sportsmanship in athletic contests.
