NASO Launches Member Information & Consultation Program

RACINE, Wis. — The National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) launched the Member Information and Consultation Program (MICP) as a benefit for its members.

Through MICP, NASO members can present questions on any professional services topic to NASO. NASO will work to get the answers members need or put members in touch with a professional who can do just that.

NASO previously had a Legal Information and Consultation Program, but the name and content were updated to better reflect the expansiveness of the program.

By using MICP, NASO members can ask questions about officiating “business” issues, insurance and general game management issues. When an issue related to officiating is concerning an NASO member, NASO’s MICP program can help. MICP has two parts. They are an information program handled by the staff of NASO as well as a consultation program through which NASO can put a member in contact with a consultant for an initial free consultation. The need for such outside consultations is determined solely by NASO and its use is limited to three times a year per member.

In relation to the information program, reprints of relevant Referee magazine or NASO articles and other materials may also be provided. Under the consultation program of MICP, NASO staff may recommend a consultant in the area needed. The consultant may present information or help locate an adviser outside of the program.

When NASO members feel the need to sort out an officiating-related issue, clarify any options or get advice, the MICP program is there for them.

MICP is not an insurance plan or policy, nor are any representations made other than what is stated in the MICP Program Description Document, which is available through NASO.

NASO is the world’s largest organization for sports official at every level and all sports. With more than 16,000 members, NASO’s mission is to serve as the leading source of officiating information, programs and services.
